RHA Co-Advisor/Director of Housing & Residential Life
Matt Crouse serves as the Director of Housing and Residential Life for NMSU, and came to the university in May 2016. He is professionally involved in the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) and the Association of Intermountain Housing Officers (AIMHO). Matt has served as a community council, RHA advisor, state leadership conference advisor, and delegation advisor to dozens of conference teams. Matt enjoys working directly with residential student leaders because that’s how he got his start in college. He previously had the privilege of serving on the Indiana state, GLACURH regional board, and NACURH National Board of Directors. He is thrilled to work with such a talented group of students at NMSU. RHA is a truly exceptional organization.
Matt currently serves as the direct advisor to the positions of RHA President, RHA Director of Programming, and RHA Director of Public Relations.
RHA Co-Advisor/Assistant Director of Residence Hall Housing
Michelle Bernstein joined the NMSU Housing and Residential Life team in 2007. Over the years, Michelle’s role has involved work with Living Learning Communities, faculty partnerships, academic initiatives, conduct, programming, and training, in addition to advising. She served as the RHA advisor from 2008-2012 and is in this role again presently, as well as the Pete’s Elite chapter of NRHH advisor from 2009-2012. Michelle has achieved ART and Master ART certification in student organization advising. She has published articles about advising RHA in regional publications and has presented conference sessions on advising at multiple campus, regional, and national conferences. Additionally, Michelle is honored to be a bronze pin recipient. The bronze pin is the highest honor that can be bestowed at the campus level by an RHA or NRHH chapter. Michelle earned her master’s degree from Indiana University in Student Affairs Administration. Of all the enjoyable, enriching, and exciting elements of her job through the years, Michelle’s favorite thing about working at NMSU remains the outstanding students who attend our great university.
Michelle is pleased to serve as the direct advisor to the Vice President, National Communications Coordinator, and Director of Business Administration.
